Rules of Conduct
- Running or horseplay is not permitted in the warehouse.
- Smoking is permitted in authorized smoking areas only. {outside building}
- Only authorized persons may drive or ride tow motors (lift trucks) or other mechanical equipment.
- Employees' (volunteers) clothing must be clear of operating equipment.
- Only authorized persons may attempt to repair equipment.
- Equipment must be shut off and Safety locked before repairing it.
- No short cuts in performing assigned work are permitted.
- Unauthorized use of or removal of Safety equipment is not permitted.
- All unsafe acts or conditions should be reported to the person in charge.
- Any questions regarding Safety should be referred to the person in charge.

Warehouse Safety and shopping guidelines
- While in the warehouse, stay within the distribution area. Do not go beyond the rolling door into the storage area.
- Be alert, aware and careful. There are forklifts, cars and trucks operating in the distribution and parking area.
- To maintain a safe environment, Second Harvest Food Bank would prefer toddlers and young children not be in the warehouse.
Second Harvest Food Bank also recognizes that is not always possible; therefore, we respectfully request that no children be left unattended and prefer the children be in strollers.
- No running in the warehouse.
- Do not climb up on racking or step on the pallets. If there is something that is out of your reach, please get a warehouse assistant to assist you, that is what they are there for.
- Do not tilt over large totes, due to the possibility of the tote falling over on you.
- If you pick up an item that is leaking, please notify a staff person immediately.
- For safety reasons, we must ask that no more than one shopper and two helpers be allowed to shop for one agency at a time.
- Please do not bring open drinks and food into the warehouse.
- If you must eat or drink, please utilize the break room and clean up after yourself.
- Do not open food products from the warehouse, we have a vending machine in the break room.
- Do not open any cases. If an agency does open a case, that agency will be charged for that product. If repeated, then they will be ask to leave the warehouse.
- When shopping, please keep all products separate. For example, keep all drinks together, all breakfast foods together, etc. Check out will be a lot faster! Don't be surprised if you are asked to step aside to put your items together.
